Volunteer as a Digital Champion!
Interested in volunteering in your local area to help someone learn digital skills? We'd love to have you onboard!
Learning new skills at any age can be daunting. For some people, they've only ever used basic digital skills that they learnt in school; for others they've never used any digital equipment at all. Digital Champions and Tech Angels can make that leap a lot less scary by offering one to one support for anyone wanting to broaden their digital horizons.
Whatever way you choose to join us in our efforts to reduce digital exclusion in Surrey, we are extremely appreciative and value the time you give to the community.
Learn more about Digital Champions
By volunteering as a Digital Champion, you'll be linked into a wide network of volunteer groups across Surrey that will connect you with someone in your community who needs help.
As an example, you may help an elderly couple who are struggling to navigate a local parking app on their smartphone. Someone else may need help with applying for benefits or other support online for the first time. Another might ask to focus on their GP surgery website, to learn how to request an appointment or order a repeat prescription.
There are many established volunteer groups across Surrey helping local residents to use digital products for the first time, or to learn additional skills. Choose from the links below to be directed to a group in your local area currently looking for new volunteers:
Learn more about Tech Angels
If you have more time to commit (from 4 hours a month), you might consider being a Tech Angel - Tech Angels require some additional training as they work specifically with people who require more specialised learning support. You might help someone who suffers with memory loss for example, or Parkinson's...these are individuals who need to learn in a different way to the majority.
Tech Angels are in high demand and currently have a waiting list for support of over a year - new volunteers are always welcome!
